The weak force
WebWeak force is intrinsically short ranged (order 1 / M W ), and primarily it does not transmit a force --- but transmutates particles. Electrons go to neutrinos, quarks mix, etc. And for gravity, say whatever your favourite quantum gravity picture say it is :-) Share Cite Improve this answer Follow answered Feb 2, 2011 at 9:13 genneth 8,479 1 31 33 WebAug 10, 2024 · The weak force is involved in interactions which change the nucleon flavor, when a neutron turns into a proton, or vice versa. It's important for the stability of the nucleus. Roughly speaking, a nucleus is most stable with equal numbers of protons and neutrons (a higher neutron:proton ratio is necessary in heavier nuclei).
